VOLUNTEER DAY WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH’S ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT AND THE MISSION CONTINUES

June 7, 2019

Klavon Design was invited to participate in the University of Pittsburgh’s volunteer day program. Klavon’s task was to design a plan to transform a vacant lot into a safe and exciting green space for the local community of Homewood. Over the years, the lot has been attended by Mrs. Mary Savage, an elderly resident that is highly respected by the community. Over her lifetime, Mrs. Savage has contributed her talents and time to planting and maintaining many lots within Homewood. After visiting the site and interviewing Mrs.
Savage and other community members, Klavon created a site and landscape plan to meet the needs of the community and limited budget. With the help of volunteers from the University of Pittsburgh’s Athletic Department and The Mission Continues, collectively we were able to install a new picket fence, an outdoor circuit gym for children, picnic tables, pathways, perennials, and more.
